Kissing in Paris

Where to kiss in Paris? Let's cross out ‘top of the Eiffel Tower’ and ‘on a boat down the Seine’, straight off, shall we? They’re pretty obvParisious clichés, and we can do better. ‘Outside a cathedral’ is also a bit naff, unless you just got married.

Below are a few other ideas to get you in the smooching mood.

Remember the scene in French Kiss where Meg Ryan sees her ex-fiancé coming down the elevator clinching someone else, causing her to careen into the dessert cart? Recreate the sexy, elegant part of the scene in the elevator of the George V. Hotel.

Follow in the footsteps of the French Film Amants de Pont Neuf and cosy up in one of the alcoves on the Pont Neuf, preferably during one of Paris’ beautiful sunsets.

The Jardins du Luxembourg is arguably Paris’ most beautiful park. Indulge in a crepe or galette (waffle), followed by your own sweet romantic treats.

The Bois de Boulogne in the 16th can provide an action-adventure-romance element. Make a beeline for the waterfall and slip behind it--what do you find? A perfectly private place for a peck, or three.

The Place de Vosges in the heart of the Marais is a stunning arcade with a public garden in the centre. Pay homage to the Georges Brassen's song Les Amoureux des Bancs Publiques and get comfortable on a park bench.

The Deux Magots café in St-Germain-des-Pres is the legendary existentialist hangout. Make like legendary lovers Sartre and de Beauvoir, annoy the staff and get your revenge over the price of the coffee.

Or the morning after….

The courtyard of the Louvre is perfect in the early hours of morning. Look out over the gardens with an open bottle of champagne. Bisous.
