A few times each win ter, the conditions in a spot called “Jaws” (Pe’ahi) off the north shore of Maui come together to create massive waves, some measuring over 60 feet.
These monster waves not only invite the most adventurous of surfers, but crowds of photographers, videographers and spectactors who come to watch (from land and by chopper). California-based Ann Shepphird was visiting the island when the waves were up and hiked over to have a look. Here's what she found.
