While you’re out watching the spectacular nightly sunset, a staff member comes into your room to turn down the bed and the lights and turn up the Barry White. But even if they didn’t, the Marquis Los Cabos located in the corridor between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas on Mexico’s Baja peninsula, would still be one of the most romantic places in the world.

Not to get all sappy about it, but most days, it was a toss up between gazing into my husband’s liquid blue eyes and the turquoise sea just steps away from our room. I managed to take in both.

Despite the best efforts of Frederico--concierge extraordinaire--to get us to explore the snorkeling, horseback riding, fishing, whale watching and ATV-riding opportunities outside the resort, we never went farther than the resort’s elegant restaurant and infinity pool, once--for an exhilarating morning of ziplining. Followed by--you guessed it--a long soak in our Jacuzzi and a pina colada under the palm trees on our private terrace.
