Imagine bumping along in a jeep on a dusty road and then driving off road through weeds and bush to go scuba diving. A bit of a departure from the standard deep-sea dives so many underwater operators run.
Above and Below Abaco in the Bahamas takes adventure-seeking divers to what they call the Magical Blue Hole that’s inland on the island of Abaco.
“No matter how much I talk about what it’s like, our guests are amazed,” explains Kay Politano, an NACD-certified cave driver and instructor with over 30 years of diving experience.
Indeed. The diving experience starts once you step into what looks like a backwater pond.
Once you get down past the first 30 feet, it opens up to a magical world that looks like a Gothic cathedral under the sea, complete with enormous stalactites all in a blue-green glow caused by the meeting of fresh and salt water.
Half-day excursions take off from Above and Below Abaco, located at Simmons Place in Marsh Harbour.
